Using +inv

Virtual +inv (inventory) system.

Part 1- Basic Commands
Part 2- IC and OOC Items
Part 3- Lists
Part 4- Other/New Commands

<[NS:SE utilizes an SQL based system for a virtual inventory. Utilizing +inv properly includes setting items as IC/OOC, as well as creating smaller lists of items for easy sorting.  The parts following cover the system's Basic Commands, Using +IC/+OOC, and List Use.]

-=Part 1: Basic commands=-

+inv

-=ScreenShot=-

<[+inv will bring up a brief list of your gear, with 4 columns: Reference Number (Nr), Type, Name, and Quantity. When specific gear has an accessory/customization, we refer to these items as mods. The 'mod' item appears below the linked item with a + at the beginning of its name, like my Sony Emperor and +Mangadyne Deva OS in the example below.]

<[Regarding Items with mods/accessories : When transferred between characters, set IC or OOC, or added to a list, the mod/accessory is linked automatically]

+inv/info <Nr>

<[If you'd like to see more information about a specific item in your +inv, use the command +inv/info <Nr>]

+inv/loc

-=ScreenShot=-

+inv/loc <Nr>=<location text>

<[The Location value is set by the player using +inv/loc <Nr>=<location text> like my examples above. If the value for <location text> is blank, then it resets the location to blank. Mods for gear get the same location set automatically.]

+inv/transfer <Nr>=<Character>
+inv/transfer <Nr>/<Amount>=<Character>

<[The first of +inv/transfer code is used for individual item transfer between players, the second is used for transferring multiple items between inventories.  All mod items attached to a master item will move along with it.
  Stacks of items, the instance for multiple transfers, should at the same time have no mods attached as each modded item will be separate from stacks of generic items of the same name. ]

+inv/transfer is also used to transfer lists.

+inv/proof <Nr>
+inv/proof <Nr>=<Player>

-=ScreenShot=-

<[+inv/proof <Nr> is used to show an item's information to the whole room, with +inv/proof <Nr>=<Player> to show item info to a single player.]

+inv/use <Nr>
+inv/use/confirm <Nr>

<[When you shoot the last bullet from your weapon and need to reload (a.k.a use Ammo object), toss a grenade, utilize a slap patch, or say the unfortunate happens and an item is destroyed entirely or lost forever, a player uses the +inv/use command.  This depletes the qty of the referred item by 1.  Using this command on an item will destroy all mods linked to that item, so if you're only losing the mod, then refer to that specific Nr. After +inv/use, the player is prompted that they have one minute to use +inv/use/confirm to verify and complete the item depletion.]

Example:
+inv/use 6

-=Part 2:  IC and OOC Items=-

<[It's important to know where your gear is, or if you even have it with you at all.]

+inv/ic <Nr>
+inv/ooc <Nr>
+inv/proof ic

<[On the MUSH, it is important to know which items on the +inv for each player is IC or OOC.  IC status is marked with an asterisk (*), OOC status is without an asterisk.  This is used to determine what is being carried currently/readily accesible/installed etc, and what is stored away, either in a safehouse or, in the case of a prp/scenario, what may be in seattle while the player is currently elsewhere on biz. ]

<[Use +inv/ic <Nr> and +inv/ooc <Nr> to assign such designation.  Whenever you switch an item from IC/OOC, a message is sent to the room indicating the action.(and vice versa) This is useful in preventing pc's from pulling items that they didn't start out icly with from their ooc bank.  Of course , if it's clear that the PC is stopping to pick up said item by the GM, then it will be allowed.  Otherwise, a forced +inv/ooc may be requested. I use my Ak-97, Item Nr. 3 in my +inv, as an example.]

+inv/ic 3:
GAME <Inventory>: Kujata just set his AK-97 Carbine as IC.

+inv/ooc 3:
GAME <Inventory>: Kujata just set his AK-97 Carbine as OOC.

<[+inv/proof ic is required by pc's before entering a scene or starting a prp so that whomever is watching/running the scene has an idea of all the items carried ICly by the pc.  This also helps prevent inventory tampering, so if you want to head somewhere with a certain piece of tech, set it +ic before arriving at the scene and then +inv/proof ic. ]

Example:
+inv/proof ic

-=ScreenShot=-

-=Part 3: Lists=-

<[Using lists, players can filter their +inv using listnames instead of going through a whopping gear list.  A list can be a storage locker ooc, a backpack ic, a cargo box inside a van ic  or ooc, and any sort of arrangement a pc may like.  Other suggestions are a legal/illegal list as well as gear for sale for fixers;  Hackers may want to have their programs loaded between multiple commlinks in particular arrangements.  Ideas such as these minimize time spent sifting through your gear for the right pairings of equipment.]

+inv/list <Nr>=<listname>:

<[You'll have to put at least one item on a list before you can view your lists.  This command will add an item to an existing list, or if it's the first item of that list, creates it.  Then you can use +inv/list <listname> to view that very list.  I went ahead and created two list samples]

+inv/list :
+inv/list <listname> :

-=ScreenShot=-

<[You can use our +inv/transfer code to transfer lists with +inv/transfer <listname>=<Player>.  The listname replaces the reference number in the regular transfer code]

Other Commands:

+inv/link <Mod Item Nr>=<Main Item Nr>
+inv/install <Nr>
+inv/remove <Nr>

<[These new commands are for linking modifications, as well as installing cyber/bioware and removing either 'ware or linked modifications.]

<[+inv/link <Mod Item Nr>=<Main Item Nr> is used to attach the modification/accessory (Mod Item Nr) to the item requiring the change. (Main Item Nr). +inv/install will take a piece of 'ware from your +inv and install it onto your +sheet. The Item Nr is now present when viewing 'ware on your +sheet, so you can use +inv/remove <Nr> to pull gear off your +sheet. You'll have to adjust Essence on your own using +sheetchanges code, of course, as well as replace gear mistakenly +inv/removed.]
